LWA's Recycling

The Ligonier Valley Recycling Facility is located along Old Route 30 West near the LWA Office. Thanks to a generous donation from New Florence resident, Betty Gamble, and community support, the co-mingled recycling program returned on January 3rd!

Illegal dumping or leaving recyclables on the ground next to the bins is strictly prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted!

Items Accepted in the Large Recycling Bin:
Plastic
- Any plastic container marked #1 to #7 on the bottom, including water bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, soda bottles, shampoo bottles, most fruit/food containers, butter tubs

Metal - Soda and beer cans, aluminum foil, foil pie pans, soup, fruit and juice cans, pet food cans, tuna cans, vegetable cans

Glass - Beer bottles, liquor and wine bottles, jelly, salsa and mayo jars, any other colored jars or bottles

Items NOT Accepted in the Large Recycling Bin:
Plastic - Plastic grocery bags (these go in the separate bag recycling shed), pool chemical bottles, children's toys, motor oil/antifreeze containers, packing peanuts, CD/Cassette cases, medicine bottles, any Styrofoam

Metal - Tools, car parts, license plates, silverware, paint cans, aerosol cans, furniture, cookware, gutters, siding
Glass - Windows or mirrors, medicine bottles, dishes, drinking glasses, cookware

Cardboard - All cardboard should be placed in the four small "Eco Rewards" blue and green recycling bins on the outside of the fenced area.

Paper - All paper recycling should be placed in the separate paper recycling containers along the fenced area - paper recycling help funds the co-mingled program.

Please rinse all containers and keep your items loose - not in bags or boxes!


Abitibi Paper Retriever Program
Items now accepted through the Abitibi Paper Retriever Program are as follows:
  • Newspaper and Inserts
  • Magazines/Catalogs (all high quality, slick paper with the exception of any paper coated in wax)
  • Office/School paper (including window envelopes, paper back books, workbooks and bagged shredded paper)
  • Junk Mail
Items that are not accepted include:
  • Cardboard
  • Cereal boxes, soda boxes, other food containers
  • Hardcover books, text books
  • Phone books
  • Colored paper
  • Wrapping/tissue paper
  • Carbon paper/sticky notes

Cardboard
COLLAPSED corrugated cardboard boxes, shoe and cereal boxes, egg cartons, etc. can be placed in the four small "Eco Rewards" blue and green recycling bins on the outside of the fenced area.

Held at LWA Office Complex
Hours: Tuesdays, 12 noon - 5 pm

LWA is pleased to announce that thanks to our new recycling hauler, JVS Recycling of Somerset, PA, Electronics Recycling is once again
FREE OF CHARGE for household residents!!! However, donations are still welcomed and appreciated! Businesses or organizations with more than 15 items are asked to contribute a donation equivalent to the amount it costs to recycle the items.

Materials Accepted:
COMPUTER ITEMS - Hard drives, laptops, mainframe computers, modems, personal computers, CPUs, monitors, keyboards, mouses, peripherals, printers, printed circuit boards, cords

HOUSEHOLD ITEMS - Televisions, household appliances (excluding vacuum cleaners), power tools, batteries, answering machines, CD players, mobile phones, microwave ovens, pagers, radios, remote controls, stereos, tape players, telephones, cell phones, telephone equipment, uninterruptible power supplies, VCRs/DVDs

OFFICE ITEMS - Copiers, duplicators, electric typewriters, fax machines, testing equipment, transparency makers

WE DO NOT ACCEPT: Stoves, refrigerators or other "white" appliances, and any items that may contain freon or mercury.
Seasonal Recycling
Location: Ligonier Country Market Parking Area in Ligonier
Hours: Open daily from December 26th through Mid-January

Materials Accepted:
CHRISTMAS TREES:
Please make sure to remove decorations, lights, and other items from the tree.
Please do not wrap the tree in plastic.
All trees are mulched and utilized in area gardens maintained by LWA.
